Andy Metcalf - Owner/Founder

Hello, I’m Andy Metcalf, the founder of Birchmere Builders. I’ve been building since I was a kid—starting with small projects and developing a passion for craftsmanship that has guided my career. With over a decade of hands-on experience in construction, specializing in custom homes, fine woodworking, and renovations, I bring a wealth of expertise to our projects. After an extended venture into the tech industry as a business consultant, I’ve returned to what I’ve always loved—building. Our experienced team is committed to open communication, honesty, quality construction, and enduring customer satisfaction. Join us in our journey as we continue to grow and expand Birchmere Builders.

Jeremy Hemond - Construction Supervisor

With over 30 years in construction, Jeremy excels in all aspects of the trade, from framing to custom millwork, with a passion for problem-solving and finish work. He thrives on new construction projects, delivering creative, high-quality results. His proudest achievement is a solo white cedar timber frame project in southern Vermont, where milling beams and creative freedom shone. Outside work, Jeremy enjoys camping, fly fishing, and kayaking. Surprisingly, he once balanced construction with a career as a recording and touring drummer.

Alexander Hardaker - Senior Carpenter

I began my journey in construction with a can-do attitude and a willingness to learn. Along the way, I’ve gained valuable skills and knowledge from experienced foremen, general contractors, and superintendents. Most recently, I’ve been involved in constructing homes from frame to finish, embracing the challenges and fast pace of the work while bringing my personal touch to each project. I particularly enjoy tackling tough projects that push me to grow and deliver great results. Outside of work, I love disc golfing with my dog Otis, camping, and skiing with my girlfriend.

Charlie Wilson - Senior Carpenter

Charlie Wilson, a 24-year blue-collar veteran, is a master of framing and finish carpentry, wielding lasers to ensure every new build is perfectly plumb and level. He takes pride in his role developing Tesla’s innovative solar roof and crafting a stunning $3M home in Stowe. Charlie’s passion for frame-to-finish projects shines through in spaces that delight clients. Off the job, he’s mountain biking, telemark skiing, hiking, practicing yoga, and nurturing his spiritual life while uplifting others. Universally adored, Charlie’s laid-back demeanor and infectious positivity make him an invaluable team member, always bringing joy to the worksite.

Nate Tahair - Junior Carpenter

Nate Tahair is a carpenter’s apprentice with a decade of hands-on experience in construction, starting at just 10 years old. Specializing in large joinery, framing, and running heavy equipment, Nate also brings three years of solar and electrical experience to the table. He enjoys working on frame-to-finish houses, decks, and porches, where he can apply his diverse skill set. One project he’s particularly proud of is designing a stunning mahogany deck with cedar accents and a modern stainless steel wire railing. Outside of work, Nate can often be found tinkering with cars, spending time at the beach, or camping. He also has a surprising knack for making money from video games.

Kyle Adams - Project Manager
Kyle currently serves as a project manager, where he oversees and guides the entire construction process. With a background in sales, real estate, and data analysis, Kyle is driven by the opportunity to address Vermont’s housing shortage. He enjoys the hands-on aspects of building homes and now applies his experience to manage projects from start to finish. Known for his strong work ethic, attention to detail, and commitment to continuous learning, Kyle is focused on delivering quality results. He is passionate about contributing to projects that make a meaningful impact on his community and help meet the region’s housing needs.
